In 2005, three cornerstone organizations, Brookings Economic Development Corporation, the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau, and Downtown Brookings, Inc., joined forces in a display of unity. Together, they created the Vision Brookings Coalition to ensure the region's economic vitality for years to come.

The result was Vision Brookings I (Vision Brookings 2010), a five-year strategic initiative designed to catalyze economic growth, address workforce challenges, spur entrepreneurship, and build community wealth. With over $2.7 million raised from private businesses, the initiative successfully leveraged additional funding from public and private sources to maximize impact and drive measurable results.
